Sacraments
Adult Baptism: We welcome people of all ages into our parish community. The process for welcoming adults into the Catholic faith is known as the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). For more information please see our posting on RCIA.
Infant Baptism: It is with great joy that Holy Name of Mary Parish helps parents who seek the baptism of their baby. In bringing forward your child for baptism, you seek to make a permanent connection between your child and Jesus Christ through the Church. No matter how close or distant your own relationship with God,
the new life of your child has stirred a desire in you to seek baptism for him or her. In this sacrament both you and we promise to walk together in nurturing the faith of your child.
Baptism Preparation: If this is your first time bringing a child forward for baptism, it is a requirement that both parents participate in one baptism preparation session. We encourage parents to wait until after the child has been born to attend the session. Parents may bring the baby with them. The preparation session is held in the home of our hosting couple. For more information please contact the parish office.
If you have already had a child baptized at Holy Name of Mary, you need not attend the preparation session again, unless you would like to.
Options for Celebrating the Baptism of Your Child: We offer a couple options for celebrating this important sacrament.
Most baptisms at Holy Name of Mary are celebrated after the 10:30am Mass on Sundays. The ceremony lasts about half-an-hour and is not a full Mass.
Another choice is to have your child baptized during one of our regular weekend Masses.
Whichever of these options you choose, you must contact the parish office before making further plans.

Reconciliation: Also known as "Confession," this sacrament is offered at Holy Name of Mary Church. Our Pastor makes himself available half-an-hour before all weekday and weekend Masses.
The confessional is located to the right past the front entrance of the church. Confessions can also be heard in the office by appointment.
Children Preparing to Receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation: Children in second grade prepare for their First Reconciliation before their First Communion. For those students enrolled in the Catholic school system instruction for this sacrament is largely done in the their respective school.
For students enrolled in the public school system or for those who are home-schooled alternative preparations for First Reconciliation are needed. This can be done through the parish. Please contact the parish office early in the school year for more information.
Our faith community prays for students throughout this process and so a blessing for our children is given on "Enrolment Sunday."

Adult Eucharist: We welcome people of all ages into our Catholic community. The process for welcoming adults into the Catholic faith is known as the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).
Please see RCIA for more information about how adults at any stage of their faith journey can learn more about becoming Catholic.
Children Preparing for the Sacrament of the Eucharist: Children in second grade prepare to receive their First Communion. For those students enrolled in the Catholic school system instruction for this sacrament is largely done in the their respective school. However, as First Communion is part of one's initiation into the Christian life it implies a commitment on the part of the recipient to active participation in the life of the Church. As children receiving their First Communion are only seven years of age this responsibility is assumed by their parents.
For students enrolled in the public school system or for those who are home-schooled alternative preparations for First Communion are needed. This can be done through the parish. Please contact the parish office early in the school year for more information.
Our faith community prays for students throughout this process and so a blessing for our children is given on "Enrolment Sunday."

Children Preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation: Students receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit in the Sacrament of Confirmation in the sixth grade. For those students
enrolled in the Catholic school system instruction in preparation for this sacrament is done in their respective school. However, as Confirmation is a Sacrament of Initiation into the fullness of the Christian life it implies a commitment on the part of the recipient
to active participation in the life of the Church. As children being confirmed are still quite young the co-operation of the parents is essential in this regard.
For students enrolled in the public school system or for those who are home-schooled alternative preparations are needed. This can be done through the parish. Please contact the parish office early in the school year for more information.
Adult Confirmation: Holy Name of Mary's RCIA program is designed to accommodate those Catholics who have been baptized and have received their first Eucharist but who never received the Sacrament of Confirmation.
It is an overview of the essentials of the faith from an adult perspective. For more information please contact the parish office.
Christians baptized in other traditions who wish to find out more about the Catholic Church or convert to Catholicism are also invited to participate in the RCIA program.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! If you are looking to get married at Holy Name of Mary Church we ask that you contact the parish office
as soon as possible to ensure an available date. Before we can actually reserve a date and time for your wedding the two of you will have to meet privately with our Pastor. The process for marrying in the Catholic
Church is rather simple but does require some paperwork and necessary preparations to be completed.

Spiritual Care of the Sick: The sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is available for Catholics who are facing major surgery, serious illness, chronic illness,
and the debilitating symptoms of aging. The Church recognizes that people need the healing and strengthening power of Christ in these difficult times.
If you or someone you know wishes to receive this sacrament simply call or contact the parish office and speak with our Pastor.

Condolences: Our condolences to anyone experiencing loss at this time. Funerals are usually booked through the Funeral Home with whom you are
making arrangements. Once booked our Pastor will contact you concerning the Funeral /Memorial Mass or Funeral Service. Please feel free to contact the parish office with any questions or concerns you may have.
The Catholic Church encourages bodily burial of the deceased but does accept cremation. If at all possible we ask that cremation be delayed until after the Funeral Mass has taken place.

There are five parish ministries, each encompassing a variety of activities and programs. If you'd like to offer help in, or obtain information about, any of these areas please follow the link to our Contact page or contact the parish office.
